Cats rule, dogs drool. Give your tiny friend a safe and happy start.

At Pack and Clowder Vets, our kitten clubs run 6 times per year for 4 weeks. You are welcome to attend with or without your kitten. Our vet nurses will discuss topics including:

  • Cat behaviour and how to communicate with your new best friend.
  • Settling into a new home
  • Preventative health care
  • Diet
  • Dental care
  • Play/enrichment for indoor cats
  • Toileting
  • Cat first-aid, including dealing with choking and CPR
  • Getting your cat to love walking on a lead (if you wish)

We are a Fear-Free clinic, which focuses on minimising anxiety during veterinary care. While your kitten is young, we will help them develop their ‘clinic-ready’ skills to make vet visits less stressful.

  • Sharing a leg (if blood sampling is ever required)
  • Sitting on our scales
  • Having a nail trim
  • Being comfortable with hair clippers
  • Having their eyes, ears, mouth and paws examined

The most influential stage in a kitten’s life relative to behaviour patterns and learning is 2-7 weeks, usually before your kitten joins your family. We still advise exposing your kitten to different people, animals, things and places to grow confidence and reduce general anxiety later in life. Kittens are not fully vaccinated until 14-16 weeks of age, and the kitten club allows your friend to socialise in a safe environment during this time.
